Artist’s statement:
Most of my work is an attempt to organize and interpret reality in an attractive way. The subject matter I use this for can be anything, but I focus mainly on the natural word, or the people and places I know well. This imagery maintains an atmospheric quality due to forming soft transitions between values and colors in all parts of the painting. My choice of colors help with this in staying fairly limited throughout the entire process, usually just four or five colors. Through my process, I wish to touch on the viewer's sense of amusing admiration - the way one would view a flower, a beetle, or anything natural. To me, art is a source of aesthetic enjoyment first, and then a ground for contemplation.
